Why I’m Glad I Stuck to My Routine (When I Didn’t Really Want To)

In this article:

I really did not want to go for a run yesterday.

I could come up with a plethora of (bad) excuses.

  • Too cold
  • Too wet
  • My usual route had to change
  • Weird week with New Years
  • Slightly out of my routine with the kids out of school

BUT, on this chilly, windy, overcast late December day, I know that my chances to get out in nature to exercise may be limited over the next few months. So I sucked it up.

This is the magic that lets me know I made the right choice and helps me understand the power of a routine. It trumps motivation (or lack thereof) almost every time.
