Your Most Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re curious about what life coaching is, how it works, and how it can benefit you, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together this FAQ to answer some of the most common questions about life coaching, and to help you make an informed decision about whether life coaching is right for you. Whether you’re feeling stuck, unmotivated, or just ready for a change, we are here to help you achieve your goals and live your best life. So, let’s dive in and explore the world of life coaching.

Life coaching is a process of personal development that focuses on helping you set and achieve goals. A life coach can help you identify your strengths, create a plan to achieve your goals, and offer support and accountability along the way. Life coaching can help you gain empowerment, clarity, confidence, and motivation to take action and make positive changes in your life.

While counseling/therapy focuses on healing emotional wounds and addressing mental health issues, life coaching is focused on personal growth. Life coaches do not provide diagnosis or treatment for mental health disorders. Rather, they guide and inspire you to discover and achieve your personal and professional aspirations. Coaching is a collaborative process where you take the lead. Through coaching, you enhance your perspective on work and life, develop leadership abilities, and unleash your maximum potential.

Though not explicitly treating mental health issues, the coaching process can be beneficial to mental health and holistic well-being.

The time it takes to see results from life coaching can vary based on your goals and the frequency of your sessions. However, most people start to see positive changes in their lives within a few weeks or months of starting life coaching.

Often, clients see initial positive results quickly. a couple of things may happen at this stage.

1) The initial urgency that prompted the request for support lessens and clients pull back because they feel better.

2) Cognitive resistance occurs when changing habits and clients question if this change is right for them.

In both cases, this is just neurobiology in action. Your coach can support you through these doubts and struggles. That said, also trust your instincts if you feel like the relationship with your coach is not a match. If that is the case, as a professional, your coach should appreciate that feedback and you should continue your search for professional support.

The frequency of life coaching sessions can vary based on your needs and goals. Some people may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may only need monthly or quarterly check-ins. As a general rule of thumb, since you are often establishing new habits, weekly sessions are best to begin for the first several weeks. Many clients find it difficult to instill new habits and patterns without more frequent initial support.  Your life coach can help you determine the best schedule for you and ultimately will support you with the schedule that you decide on.

At enLiven Wellness Life Coaching, we recognize everyone has their own unique needs. We offer monthly packages, session-by-session pricing and pay-by-the-minute sessions (Spark Sessions) for those who need an objective ear to work out their ideas or challenges.

The cost of life coaching can vary based on the coach’s experience, training, and location. Generally, life coaching sessions can range from $75 to $300 or more per hour. Some coaches also offer package deals or group coaching sessions that may be more affordable. Pricing can reflect differences in experience, training, and approach. Often new coach fees are less than $100, so you may be providing them with valuable practice, though they may not yet be fully comfortable in their practice. Corporate and executive coaches are often in the upper end of the fee range.

Many coaches offer sliding scale fees as well if you are committed to your personal growth but the fee is out of reach. Generally, you and your coach will be able to arrive at a beneficial solution to meet your needs.

At enLiven Wellness Coaching, we ask that clients who can afford to pay the full fee do so, so that we may be able to better serve those who cannot afford the full investment. In addition, the fee should feel slightly uncomfortable (but not put your finances in peril) to take advantage of neuroscience in spurring on your personal development.

Life coaching is suitable for anyone looking to improve their personal or professional life. Whether you are feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or simply seeking guidance, support, and accountability to achieve your goals, life coaching is a valuable tool for anyone who wants to improve their personal or professional life, build confidence, and create a more fulfilling future.

Sessions will typically begin with a warm greeting and an opportunity to set an agenda for the session. Your coach will create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings without judgement or disappointment from your coach (even if you are feeling disappointed by your decisions).

Your coach will generally ask open-ended questions to help you explore your situation and identify any challenges/opportunities you are facing. This might include questions about your goals, values, beliefs, mindset, and motivations. Your coach will listen actively and with empathy, working to understand your perspective and offering support and encouragement.

Through a process of guided reflection, your coach will work together with you to identify and capitalize on your strengths to apply to your opportunities for growth. Your coach will help you set clear, achievable goals and develop an action plan to achieve those goals. Your coach will also help you identify any potential obstacles and develop strategies to overcome them.

Throughout the session, your coach will use a variety of tools and techniques to help you gain clarity and insight, including visualization, mindfulness, and creative exercises. The coach will help the client explore different perspectives and options, working together to find the best path forward.

At the end of the session, you and your coach will review the progress made and set action steps to be taken before the next session. Your coach will offer feedback and support, helping you to stay accountable and motivated.

Overall, a coaching session is a positive, empowering experience that helps you unlock your potential to lead a more fulfilling life. With the guidance of a skilled coach, clients can achieve their goals and create a brighter, more fulfilling future.

Finding the right life coach involves research and evaluation. You can start by looking for coaches who specialize in your areas of interest or goals. It’s also important to read reviews and testimonials, and even reach out for a consultation or introductory session to get a feel for the coach’s approach and style. Trusting your intuition and feeling a connection with your coach is key to a successful coaching relationship. The most important factor in achieving success is the relationship that you and your coach develop. Many coaches are certified by International Coaching Federation (ICF) or Center for Credentialing & Education.

Legally, life coaching cannot be covered by insurance because life coaches do not make mental health diagnose. However, Health Savings Accounts (HSA) generally cover life coaching. Some employers or health plans may offer wellness programs that include coaching services as well.

Absolutely! Most life coaches offer virtual coaching sessions via video conferencing or phone, making it easy and convenient to connect with your coach from anywhere in the world. In fact, virtual coaching has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it allows clients to work with coaches who may not be located in their immediate area. Plus, virtual coaching sessions can be scheduled at times that work best for you, without the need to factor in travel time or commute. So, whether you’re looking to work with a coach in your hometown or on the other side of the world, virtual coaching can be a great option to help you achieve your goals. At enLiven Wellness Life Coaching, we meet with our clients virtually as well as in person. We can even meet you at your home or office if you are within our service radius.

Counselors and therapists, on the other hand can only work with clients virtually in the states in which they are licensed (in the United States) and are generally considered to be practicing in the state in which their client is located during the session. There are certain temporary exceptions.
