“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker
It seems that the more we try to control, the more out of control we feel. When we try to control things we can’t, we shift our locus of control outside of us and give away our power. We become so inundated by attuning to what went awry we get a false sense that we have no power over anything, when in fact, letting go of that which we truly have no hand in (for example, someone else decisions), that we lose track of what we can control (such as our own reactions). Next time you feel like you have no power, take inventory of what you do have the ability to command and given the rest up to God. Even when you don’t like the outcome, find the blessings and guidance in the situation and take back your power by growing from it.
